When asked if they should run or fight the mobbing they had endured this was the answer given by a professor. "There is no point fighting battles one is almost certain to lose" If this were true where would the civil rights movement be? Where would woman's rights be? Every little step forth that human evolution has taken involved some fight. Facing challenges we could not overcome, till we did. Fighting battles that we were sure to lose, and did lose, till someone won. When it's your rights, personal freedoms and humanity at stake you have no choice, no option but to stand up and fight. I appreciate this professors point of view, maybe he was trying to save the inquirer a great deal of heartache in fighting a battle that will be emotionally, mentally, and financially hard, however if these battles are not fought, if the challenge is not met, then these aggressors will win. When they win they become more powerful, think themselves invincible and then go after the next harassment target with even more veracity because they have not been stopped. We have not stood up to them, we have left the way paved for them to prey upon the next target, and the target after that, till some commit suicide or makes the evening news. We do no good by running away from bullies and aggressors. They like Nazi aggression must be confronted and stopped at the onset, not at the end, when millions and millions of lives are lost. Had the powers that be at the time, stood up to the threat of aggression at the forefront, many more lives would have been saved. Wars are not won by throwing down weapons and surrendering, they are fought and they are hard, they are bloody and miserable, but there is no other way for victory to occur. If anyone thinks the stance against, bullying, mobbing and harassment is not a war, then think again. It is a war that has to be fought everyday on every front, and you have to be strong in order to survive. We have to keep trying because there are people who are killing themselves due to bullying, harassment, and mobbing. Adults and children alike are dying due to this terror. Peoples lives and livelihoods are being lost. Individuals are in permanent emotional and psychological ruin because of this threat. If not for ourselves, then for those who will come after us, this battle must be fought and the war must be won. We must give those who will come after us a chance for a better safer future. The point of fighting a war that you are almost certain to loose is the fact that you might win, and even if you don't win, even if you loose you have stood up to and fought aggression. You might not end up being victorious, but you will be glorious and shine, because of the courage you have showing in facing up to and standing tall in the face of adversity. That is the point of fighting a battle you are almost sure to lose. GmB Bailey. Internet Entrepreneur and Net advocate. |
